Session frequency is something we decide together based on what the work calls for and what your insurance or self-pay arrangement allows. Telehealth only.

What is included in a session

Fifty minutes of clinical time. Notes, recordkeeping, and treatment planning between sessions. Reasonable communication between sessions for scheduling, brief check-ins, and questions that come up between visits.

What is not included: extended communication outside session time (long emails, between-session crisis support); letters and forms beyond basic documentation (ESA letters, disability accommodation letters, FMLA paperwork); forensic and legal work (court letters, custody or forensic evaluations, expert testimony, immigration psychological evaluations). If you need any of these, we can talk about whether and how to arrange it, and I can refer you to colleagues whose practice is built for those needs.

Payment and access

Payment is due at the time of session. Cards on file through the secure SimplePractice portal.

HSA and FSA accepted. Therapy is generally an eligible expense under most HSA and FSA plans. Check with your plan administrator if you are unsure.

Superbills available. If you carry insurance other than BCBSTX and have out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide superbills for you to submit for reimbursement. Reimbursement amounts and processes vary by plan.

Cancellation policy

A scheduled session is held for you. If you need to cancel, please give at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, and missed sessions, are charged at the full session fee.

Life happens. If you have a circumstance that does not fit the policy, reach out and we can talk about it. The policy is not a punishment. It is the structure that lets the practice be there for you and other clients reliably.

Insurance

The practice is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. This includes Texas state Health Select. If you are a BCBSTX member, your sessions are billed through your plan. What you pay out of pocket depends on your specific coverage, such as copay, coinsurance, and deductible. The practice handles the billing.

If you carry other insurance, the practice does not bill it directly, but you may be able to seek out-of-network reimbursement on your own using a superbill (see above). Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your plan.

If you are not sure how your specific BCBSTX plan covers therapy, ask during your consult and we can verify the details together.

Sliding scale

The practice holds a small number of sliding-scale spots, available case by case, prioritized by financial need. Sliding scale applies to self-pay only; if you are using BCBSTX, your coverage already adjusts what you pay.

If sliding-scale spots are not available when you reach out, I can refer you to other practices and resources that may be a better fit while you are working out access.
